Physical Therapist Assistant

About This Role

Assist a Physical Therapist in implementing treatment plans for pediatric patients with various disabilities, aiming to improve their physical, neurological, cognitive, and social/emotional functioning.

Responsibilities

• Provide quality care and meet patient and family needs by performing evaluations and interpreting assessment results.
• Develop goals appropriate to the child and create/implement physical therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician.
• Assist pediatric patients in developing or regaining physical, neurological, cognitive, and/or social/emotional functioning.
• Implement skilled interventions to maximize each individual child's potential.
• Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
• Coordinate with referral partners, including Early Intervention Colorado, to provide services according to physician orders and IFSP.
• Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
• Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
• Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

• Texas State PTA License
• Current CPR certification

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 yr. of experience preferred
