About This Role

The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will implement physical therapy treatment plans for pediatric patients with various disabilities or delays, assisting them to develop or regain physical, neurological, cognitive, and social/emotional functioning within their homes and communities. This role involves working closely with patients, families, and caregivers to maximize each child's potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide quality care, meeting patient and family needs by interpreting assessment results and developing appropriate goals.
  • Create and implement physical therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician, focusing on maximizing individual child potential.
  • Educate, coach, and empower caregivers and families to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
  • Coordinate with referral partners to provide services in accordance with physician orders and IFSP.
  • Design and instruct patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs to assure continuation of the therapeutic plan post-discharge.
  • Document patient care services and care coordination using an electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • Texas State PTA License
  • Current CPR certification

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.

Nice to Have

  • 1 year of experience in a related field
