The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) will implement physical therapy treatment plans for pediatric patients with various disabilities or delays, assisting them to develop or regain physical, neurological, cognitive, and social/emotional functioning within their homes and communities. This role involves working closely with patients, families, and caregivers to maximize each child's potential.
Responsibilities
- Provide quality care, meeting patient and family needs by interpreting assessment results and developing appropriate goals.
- Create and implement physical therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the physician, focusing on maximizing individual child potential.
- Educate, coach, and empower caregivers and families to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
- Coordinate with referral partners to provide services in accordance with physician orders and IFSP.
- Design and instruct patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs to assure continuation of the therapeutic plan post-discharge.
- Document patient care services and care coordination using an electronic medical record system.
- Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.
Requirements
- Texas State PTA License
- Current CPR certification
Qualifications
- A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred.
Nice to Have
- 1 year of experience in a related field
