Train and participate in inventory management, medication preparation, and delivery while building skills to become a certified Pharmacy Technician. This role involves customer service, communication with staff and patients, and completing essential training for PTCB certification.
Responsibilities
- Train and participate in inventory management, storage, preparation, and delivery of medications
- Triage phone calls and handle medication requests, deferring clinical decisions to a pharmacist
- Communicate effectively with pharmacy colleagues, customers, patients, and hospital staff
- Complete all required training and activities for the PTCB Pharmacy Technician Certification Exam
- Participate in medication storage and inventory management, including stocking and expiration date checks
- Engage in customer service activities, using constructive communication and service recovery techniques
- Prepare for PTCB Certification through didactic, simulation, and experiential training via the PTU program
- Participate in efficient medication delivery activities, utilizing pneumatic tubes and hand delivery
- Train and participate in medication preparation, including order fulfillment, packaging, and logging
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Enrollment in the URMC ASHP accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program (PTTP) or alternate certification method within 180 days
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Previous work experience in health care preferred
