Pharmacist Opportunity in OTP Clinic (On Call)

About This Role

The per diem Pharmacist at MedMark Treatment Centers provides pharmacy services, interprets and evaluates prescription safety, and ensures proper drug handling for patient welfare. This role involves setting and maintaining drug handling policies and training staff on medication administration.

Responsibilities

• Ensure drugs are handled to protect patient safety and welfare
• Set and update policies and procedures for drug handling and distribution annually
• Ensure maximum safety and efficacy in pharmaceutical services
• Document all visits and activities, including irregularities
• Train facility personnel on medication administration and drug therapy
• Maintain patient profiles for each individual
• Visit the facility as needed and be available for emergencies
• Dispense take-home medication to eligible patients
• Maintain methadone inventories and conduct biennial inventory
• Participate in regulatory agency surveys or audits

Requirements

• Minimum age of 18
• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
• Currently licensed as a Pharmacist in New Mexico
• Must have or obtain certification in CPR and First Aid
• Understanding of HIPAA, Federal, State, and CARF standards and regulations
• Knowledge of medications that interfere with methadone effectiveness
• Ability to recognize methadone overdose and take appropriate action
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Excellent documentation and computer skills
• Knowledge of local community drug trends and effects of drugs of abuse
• Knowledge of Code of Pharmacy Regulations in the assigned State
• Ability to supervise personnel
• Satisfactory drug screen and criminal background check

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy
