Perishable Manager

About This Role

This role involves supporting the management and daily operations of the Perishable Department to meet financial and sales goals. It focuses on building associate and customer relations, and promoting Food Lion's culture and strategy. The manager will oversee hiring, training, and development of department associates.

Responsibilities

• Manage the Perishable Department, including hiring, training and developing department associates
• Supervise the performance of all duties and responsibilities of department associates and provide ongoing performance management
• Conduct timely formal performance appraisals for direct reports
• Manage daily labor and coach associates to achieve productivity expectations
• Provide leadership and motivation to promote the company culture, values, vision, and strategy
• Support the achievement of budgeted financial and operating results
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast, easy, flexible and friendly customer service
• Control store expenses through proper ordering and care for supplies and equipment
• Ensure department appearance, quality, variety, workplace safety, food safety and department sanitation are consistently maintained
• Monitor shrink ensuring that inventory is accounted for; provide coaching for associates to recognize and prevent losses

Requirements

• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job
• Ability to use technical information to solve problems
• Ability to lead and direct others
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations
• Accreditation by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar, or ability to achieve within 90 days

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred

Nice to Have

• Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication and customer service skills
• Good understanding of store operations
