Patient Transporter

About This Role

Transport patients safely and efficiently throughout the hospital, ensuring high quality patient care and professional conduct while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties in accordance with established policies and procedures to assure high quality patient care, with patient safety as #1 priority
• Recognize and report changes in patient condition or untoward reactions during transporting/transferring to ensure effective and consistent care
• Maintain a professional manner in both dress and behavior at all times, adhering to OCH dress code
• Maintain the use and care of supplies and equipment and promptly report any deficiencies to appropriate personnel
• Attend mandatory nursing and hospital in-service programs and staff meetings to promote staff development
• Maintain CPR certification
• Display a good attitude and work well with all levels of personnel throughout the hospital
• Demonstrate good communication skills both verbal and nonverbal in all situations
• Provide hand-off communication utilizing the 5Ps at patient pickup and at patient arrival to units
• Meet strength requirements

Requirements

• Ability to read and write well
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to pass strength testing and requirements
• CPR certification

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred
• On the job training if necessary, but patient care experience is desired
