Patient Services Assistant Med Surg Bariatrics Unit

About This Role

This role provides comprehensive administrative support and exceptional customer service within patient care areas, ensuring efficient delivery of care and service to patients, families, and staff on the Medical Surgical Bariatrics Unit. You will facilitate communication within care teams and act as a liaison with internal and external contacts.

Responsibilities

• Perform receptionist and clerical duties, welcoming visitors and patients
• Resolve customer issues and concerns, manage patient belongings, and support families in waiting rooms
• Maintain awareness of patient admissions and discharges for smooth transitions
• Perform environmental checks, ensure equipment and supplies are stocked and clean
• Report and track equipment, repairs, and ensure replacement is available
• Follow up on patient and family inquiries regarding tests and discharge, communicating updates as appropriate
• Maintain adequate levels of office, dietary, and medical supplies and reconcile orders
• Observe and enforce Quiet Time on the unit
• Assist department with quality and safety projects

Requirements

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
• Certification for BLS within 60 days of hire
• 1+ year of customer service experience
• Excellent organizational skills
• Effective human relations and communication skills
• Computer literacy

Qualifications

• High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
• 1+ year of customer service experience, preferably in a hospital or physician office setting

Nice to Have

• Working knowledge of medical terminology
• Additional related education and/or experience
