This role involves assisting acute and chronically ill patients with daily living activities and providing basic nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living
- Provide basic nursing care for acute and chronically ill patients under RN supervision
- Bathe patients and perform personal hygiene (nail care, mouth care, shampooing hair)
- Serve meal trays and feed patients
- Turn and position patients
- Assist patients with ambulation and transfer from bed to chair
- Collect specimens
- Measure and record I & O (intake and output)
- Assist with toileting
- Weigh patients
- Distribute ice
- Transport patients on admission and discharge
Requirements
- Ability to demonstrate competence in skills and knowledge required of a patient care assistant after orientation
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred
