About This Role

This role involves assisting acute and chronically ill patients with daily living activities and providing basic nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients with activities of daily living
  • Provide basic nursing care for acute and chronically ill patients under RN supervision
  • Bathe patients and perform personal hygiene (nail care, mouth care, shampooing hair)
  • Serve meal trays and feed patients
  • Turn and position patients
  • Assist patients with ambulation and transfer from bed to chair
  • Collect specimens
  • Measure and record I & O (intake and output)
  • Assist with toileting
  • Weigh patients
  • Distribute ice
  • Transport patients on admission and discharge

Requirements

  • Ability to demonstrate competence in skills and knowledge required of a patient care assistant after orientation

Qualifications

  • High School Graduate or Equivalent preferred
