About This Role

As an Emergency Department Nurse, you will provide specialized care for medical emergencies and clinic patients, focusing on recognition, stabilization, and planning of patient care activities based on acuity.

Responsibilities

  • Follow Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) guidelines
  • Follow Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) guidelines
  • Follow Basic Life Support (BLS) guidelines
  • Perform orthopedic splinting
  • Provide advanced cardiac care, including manual defibrillation, synchronized cardioversion, and transcutaneous pacing
  • Perform Electrocardiogram monitoring, including 12-lead ECG
  • Establish vascular access for medication administration and fluid resuscitation via peripheral, EJ, and intraosseous cannulation
  • Utilize noninvasive diagnostic devices such as pulse oximetry and capnography
  • Place a nasogastric tube and perform gastric suctioning
  • Administer medications via intramuscular, subcutaneous, intravenous, sublingual, endotracheal, rectal, and intraosseous routes
  • Use of glucometer for diabetic patients
  • Manage ventilators and IV pumps
  • Utilize the Emergency Severity Index (ESI) for patient triage

Requirements

  • Graduation from a State Board of Nursing School RN program
  • Licensure by the Alabama Board of Nursing as a Registered Nurse
  • BLS certification
  • ACLS certification (within first year)
  • PALS certification (within first year)
  • MOAB or equivalent training
