About This Role

This role involves providing hands-on care and emotional support to senior residents, while also managing medication administration to ensure their well-being in a safe and comfortable environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on care, physical and emotional support to residents
  • Observe, report, and document changes in residents' conditions
  • Respond promptly to security system and resident call bells
  • Assist with continence management and proper disposal of products
  • Serve and collect food trays, reporting refusal of meals or loss of appetite
  • Maintain cleanliness of resident's room and work areas
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (bathing, dressing, toileting, grooming, ambulation, transferring, eating)
  • Engage residents in life skills and other life enrichment activities
  • Assist/observe medications and treatments using the medication observation record and the Six Rights of Medication Pass
  • Document and initial form as medications are given, including appropriate documentation for refusal or missed doses
  • Report all resident concerns made while assisting with medication to the Nurse and/or Health Care Coordinator (HCC)
  • Restock medication cart after all medication passes
  • Count all narcotics with another Medication Care Manager or Nurse each shift
  • Maintain and clean the Medication Room, med charts, treatment carts for neatness, cleanliness, availability of medications and expired medications
  • Take and record temperature, blood pressure, weight, pulse and respiration rates

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School diploma/GED

Qualifications

  • High School diploma/GED
  • Previous experience working with seniors preferred

Nice to Have

  • Certified Nurse’s Aid certification
  • CPR Certification
  • First Aid Certification
  • Previous experience working with seniors
