Paralegal - Corporate Defense

About This Role

Serve as a Paralegal for corporate defense cases, focusing on drafting legal documents, managing case files, and assisting attorneys throughout the litigation process. This role requires a strong understanding of legal procedures and excellent organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Draft legal documents including complaints, pleadings, motions, and subpoenas, requiring a strong understanding of legal terminology and procedures, as well as excellent writing skills
• Prepare and file court documents, such as motions and pleadings, and ensure timely filing in accordance with court rules and procedures
• Communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, and other parties involved in the case, including opposing counsel
• Manage case files and organize documents and exhibits for trial, including tracking deadlines, organizing discovery, and preparing exhibits
• Assist attorneys during depositions, hearings, and trials by preparing witnesses, organizing exhibits, and assisting with cross-examination
• Conduct legal research to gather relevant information related to cases, including case law, statutes, and regulations, and analyze legal implications
• Summarize depositions, legal documents, and trial testimony to distill complex legal information into concise summaries for attorneys

Requirements

• Minimum 3 years experience as a Paralegal on insurance defense cases
• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong understanding of legal terminology, procedures, and regulations
• Strong writing and research skills
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
• Proficiency in using legal research tools, such as LexisNexis and Westlaw
• Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and other relevant software
• Masterful understanding of the litigation flow

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years previous experience working as a Paralegal on insurance defense cases (transportation, dram shop, premises liability, etc.) from beginning to end
