Packaging Technician

About This Role

This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining packaging and palletizing equipment to ensure proper operation, performing maintenance activities, and supporting overall plant operations.

Responsibilities

• Maintain safe work practices at all times and participate in safety programs
• Perform and document line checks and preventative maintenance, including lubrication and inspection of equipment
• Perform and document troubleshooting, removal, installation, disassembly, repair, and assembly of plant equipment
• Perform non-routine maintenance jobs assigned by packaging maintenance lead, maintenance team leader, or production team leader
• Understand and use approved lockout procedures
• Operate forklift and man lift safely
• Be a respirator user and meet qualifications of Lamb Weston Respiratory Protection Program
• Be an emergency response team member (Hazardous Materials Technician) and meet qualification requirements per 29 CFR 1910.120
• Identify and name stainless steel, mild steel and aluminum
• Assist with the training of new employees in the proper and safest way to repair equipment

Requirements

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos in English
• Ability to write accurate information on simple forms in English
• Ability to effectively present or listen to information in one-on-one and small group situations in English
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, and compute percentages
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Qualifications

• Two year certificate from college or technical school
• Minimum of three years related experience and/or training, or two year certificate from college or technical school
