Outreach Worker (Women, Infants and Children) - Bilingual (Spanish/English)

About This Role

The Outreach Worker for the Women, Infants & Children (WIC) program provides essential outreach services to women of reproductive age, newly pregnant women, and recent mothers, promoting awareness and access to vital health and nutritional support. This part-time role involves community engagement, client assistance, and administrative tasks under general supervision.

Responsibilities

• Meet with and make presentations to individuals, organizations, and community groups to explain and promote the WIC program
• Represent the program at health fairs, community events, classes, seminars, and other gatherings
• Promote and support breastfeeding among postpartum women through telephone calls and information distribution
• Assist clients with program applications and answer telephone inquiries regarding the program
• Collect, tabulate, update, and maintain program records and statistics related to breastfeeding
• Assemble and distribute program literature, brochures, and pamphlets
• Develop and maintain resource lists for clients and the program

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Two years of clerical experience with public interaction
• Possession of a valid non-commercial, Class C Maryland Driver's License

Qualifications

• High school diploma or appropriate equivalent plus two years of clerical experience with public interaction
• Two years of clerical experience which includes public interaction. Additional education may substitute for experience up to two years.

• Ability to speak Spanish fluently
• Experience working with post-partum women
