OPO Surgical Recovery Coordinator

About This Role

This role involves the recovery, preservation, packaging, and transportation of cadaveric organs for surgical transplants within a designated service area. The OPO Surgical Recovery Coordinator 1 ensures all activities comply with regulatory standards and operating procedures, working with surgical staff and other recovery agencies.

Responsibilities

• Work with surgical staff in the clinical recovery, preservation, and transportation of organs
• Coordinate with operating room staff for organ procurements and preservation for transplantation
• Recover organs and tissues for research as guided by Medical Director or LAORA leadership
• Operate kidney preservation machine and maintain accurate clinical preservation records
• Document all recovery activities completely and accurately
• Assist with maintaining recovery instruments and equipment
• Provide training and continuing education to all recovery personnel
• Order, stock, receive, and rotate all durable and consumable supplies
• Ensure recovery was done in accordance with regulatory agencies’ policies
• Ensure compliance with all OSHA and HIPPA protocols

Requirements

• Associate’s degree or medical certification, Licensure/Registration, Surgical Technician
• Two years clinical/critical care experience

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or medical certification, Licensure/Registration, Surgical Technician
• Two years clinical/critical care experience or relevant combination of education and work experience

Nice to Have

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• CPTC Certification
• Hospital Operating Room and/or Surgical Tech experience preferred
