The Operations Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of workers involved in the ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping of materials in a warehouse setting. This role involves planning work activities, managing staffing, ensuring operational procedures are followed, and maintaining high levels of inventory accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Review inbound appointment log and open order report daily to plan work activities.
- Plan inbound and outbound schedules to meet customer metrics.
- Manage staffing needs and schedule staff based on workload.
- Assign workers to specific duties based on workload and shipping schedules.
- Review and update operational procedures, ensuring communication and understanding by warehouse associates.
- Track productivity and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Collaborate with Inventory Control to ensure inventory accuracy.
- Manage departmental payroll.
- Advise employees on handling items, equipment use, and related problems.
- Trace item history to resolve inventory discrepancies.
- Manage work procedures, prepare work schedules, and expedite workflow.
- Issue written and oral instructions.
- Ensure proper safety procedures are followed.
- Maintain harmony among workers and resolve grievances.
- Interview, hire, and train employees.
- Appraise performance and provide rewards or discipline.
- Address complaints and resolve problems.
Requirements
- 3+ years of warehouse operations management experience
- Experience in a production-based/fast-paced environment
- Warehouse performance management experience
Qualifications
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum 3 years of warehouse operations management experience. Must have experience working in a production-based/fast-paced environment. Warehouse performance management experience required.
