About This Role

Provide direct nursing care, medication administration, and client observation in an inpatient psychiatric health facility for children and youth. This role ensures quality care delivery and supports admission processes.

Responsibilities

  • Visually and audibly observe, document, and report the physical or mental condition of clients to the Registered Nurse and attending physician.
  • Order, prepare, administer, and document medication for clients according to physician's orders.
  • Confirm delivery of all ordered medication from pharmacy on shift worked.
  • Write daily summaries of clients as assigned.
  • Attend and participate in morning rounds, change of shift meetings, and treatment team meetings.
  • Make written or oral shift assignments and plan, organize, and direct nursing activities of the unit.
  • Provide other nursing duties including first aid and medical intervention within scope of licensure as necessary.
  • Support admission processes including reviewing admission packets, scheduling admissions, and completing required verifications and forms.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • One (1) year nursing experience (clinical rotations may count)
  • Valid California LVN or LPT license
  • Valid CPR certification (within 30 days of employment)
  • Valid ProAct certification (within 30 days of employment)

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent required; graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences preferred.
  • One (1) year nursing experience required, preferably treating the mentally ill in an inpatient setting. Clinical nursing school rotations may be substituted for work experience. One (1) year medication administration experience preferred.

  • Graduation from an accredited school of licensed vocational nursing, psychiatric technology, or associate’s degree in nursing or social sciences
