About This Role

This role involves day-to-day monitoring and basic plant and pump/booster station operations, performing routine lab tests, and carrying out basic corrective and preventative maintenance activities.

Responsibilities

  • Operate equipment manually and through instrumentation panels, computer terminals and programmable logic control units
  • Monitor and observe operating conditions, record observations and data in shift log
  • Diagnose basic operational problems and take corrective action per procedure
  • Perform routine cleaning, lubrication, adjustment, inspection, and minor repair (CLAIR) on machines and related equipment
  • Collect water, wastewater, industrial waste, groundwater, sludge, residuals and/or gas samples
  • Perform field tests to pace chemical dosages for process and odor control units
  • Conduct routine lab tests and prepare reports
  • Perform routine instrument calibration for portable meters
  • Inspect and troubleshoot mechanical issues to determine necessary repairs
  • Perform manual labor including cleaning equipment, facilities and grounds

Requirements

  • High school or GED with ability to read, write and comprehend English
  • Ability to carry out verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
  • Basic computer skills and ability to operate programs for process control, CMMS, and laboratory/industrial pretreatment QA/QC
  • Ability to diagnose basic and routine process and mechanical problems and take remedial corrective action
  • Valid driver's license and a safe driving record
  • Minimum water/wastewater license as required by regulatory agency at site
  • Ability to obtain and maintain minimum water/wastewater operator state certification
  • Ability to become proficient in the care and use of all site specific, facility required PPE

Qualifications

  • High school or GED
  • Six months to two years of experience in a related position with experience in a similar environment preferred. Ability to comprehend specifications, blueprints and manuals.

  • Training in operation of mechanical drives, hydraulic pumps and valves, pneumatics, electronics and control systems
  • Training in the use of energy management systems
