The Infusion APP will work within our adult Infusion Center to serve as an infusion first responder and promote infusion service access and efficiency. This part-time Nurse Practitioner position involves providing urgent care and symptom management in close collaboration with longitudinal medicine providers at Brigham and Women's Hospital.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the care of patients with complex medical diagnoses, serving as a first responder for acute reactions and medical emergencies
- Work collaboratively with longitudinal medical teams and nursing staff to ensure continuity of care across the care continuum
- Provide consultation to both nurses and providers to maintain and improve access to infusion services
- Write, modify and addend orders in accord with current guidelines
- Maintain and practice in accord with practitioner guidelines per state and hospital regulations
- Monitor patient outcomes in accordance with defined standards of patient care
- Facilitate patient movement through the system and efficient use of resources through interdepartmental collaboration
- Provide direct care, counseling, and teaching to a select patient population
- Order, interpret, and evaluate appropriate lab and diagnostic tests to assess patients’ clinical problems and health care needs
- Record pertinent patient care findings in the medical record
Requirements
- Completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program
- Current APRN license to practice in Massachusetts
- Valid prescriptive authority from MA DPH and Federal DEA
- Demonstrated experience as a responding clinician/APRN to acute adverse reactions
- At least three years clinical Nurse Practitioner experience in medical infusion and oncology infusion
- Experience providing clinical infusion education to clinicians and support staff
- Expert Clinical judgement skills
Qualifications
- Master's, DNP or PhD Degree in Nursing; Master’s or post Masters’ degree in adult or family NP program
- At least three years clinical Nurse Practitioner experience in medical infusion and oncology infusion
