This role involves supporting the Intelligence Community (IC) by applying scientific methods and technical tradecraft to resolve complex mission challenges. The intern will develop and recommend advanced analytic techniques, including large language models and other data analytic tools, to address critical intelligence gaps.
Responsibilities
- Provide direct support to Sponsors through technical recommendations and assistance with all-source analysis
- Apply scientific methods and technical tradecraft across the full range of intelligence missions in support of global operations
- Develop, assess, and recommend adoption of advanced analytic techniques, including large language models, entity extraction/resolution, audio transcription, and other data analytic tools
- Participate as part of a MITRE team to define, resolve, and deliver solutions to technical challenges faced by the IC
- Support the development of a variety of analytical models to sponsor challenges
- Work with teams to produce concrete short-term tangible outputs that make progress towards larger, impactful outcomes
Requirements
- Actively pursuing a Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Public Policy, Security Studies, International Relations, Political Science or related field
- Must continue to be enrolled the semester following the internship
- Sustained excellence in academic performance
- Foundational knowledge in national security, data analytic techniques, including large language models, entity extraction/resolution, audio transcription, and other data analytic tools
- Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/Master’s/PhD in Public Policy, Security Studies, International Relations, Political Science or related field
Nice to Have
- Current active U.S. Government clearance (TS/SCI) with poly
- Experience developing, assessing, and recommending adoption of advanced data analytic techniques
- Self-starting initiative and outstanding organizational / time management skills
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Strong interpersonal skills with Sponsor and with MITRE staff
