Mid-Level Interior Designer

About This Role

Rafael De Cárdenas Ltd. is seeking a Mid-Level Freelance Interior Designer to manage 2-3 projects simultaneously, ensuring quality, design intent, schedule, and budget. The role involves directing junior designers and liaising with vendors and consultants.

Responsibilities

• Work on 2 to 3 projects at a time to ensure quality of work and design intent, schedule and budget
• Direct junior and entry-level/intern designers on projects of varying scale and typology
• Liaise with an array of notable vendors and consultants on a regular basis
• Communicate fluently, clearly, and efficiently in English, both written and verbal
• Take projects from concept through construction, including conceptual sketches and renderings
• Develop design and construction drawings and documentation, including millwork design and representation
• Create material palettes with extensive knowledge of finishes

Requirements

• 5-10 years of professional interior design experience
• Diverse portfolio with demonstrated residential design experience
• High-level proficiency in AutoCAD (drawing set experience)
• Proficiency in Rhino
• Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite
• Proficiency in Excel
• Ability to take projects from concept through construction
• Ability to create material palettes
• Currently located in NYC
• Authorized to work in the United States

Qualifications

• Undergraduate and/or graduate degree in interior design, architecture, or a related field
• 5-10 years of professional interior design experience in a design studio (not including internships)

• Varied experience across commercial and retail interior projects
• Extensive FF&E experience
• V-Ray proficiency
• Extensive knowledge and experience of NYC consultants, showrooms and vendors
