Merchandising Supervisor

About This Role

Supervise seasonal staff and operations for a live plant merchandising program in 1-2 retail stores. Oversee merchandising functions, inventory control, and team management to drive sales and ensure product care.

Responsibilities

• Oversee seasonal staff at 1-2 retail stores for the 6-Week Costco Spring Vestibule Program
• Interview, hire, train, schedule, evaluate, and counsel a team of 10-20+ seasonal workers
• Manage all daily merchandising functions, including setting up displays according to space plans
• Care for live plant products, including watering and rotating inventory
• Perform inventory counts and submit reports for receiving, tracking RTV, and sales
• Communicate daily with Costco/client management, provide feedback on sets, and communicate product information
• Manage a labor budget and store inventories, including dump, shrink, and pricing changes
• Delegate responsibilities and manage teams both in person and remotely to ensure stores are set
• Ensure appropriate signage of all InColor merchandise and update signs in a timely manner
• Coordinate safety concerns with HR, abide by safety regulations, and report injuries or incidents

Requirements

• 1-2 years of supervisory/management/sales experience or related education OR 2-3 seasons of experience with Customer Service / Retail / Merchandising
• Ability to cover and oversee a team of workers on morning (6:00AM to ~1:00PM) and afternoon (12:00PM to ~6PM/8PM) shifts
• Weekend and Mother’s Day/Memorial Day availability (mid-April through June)
• Ability to be on Tagawa Greenhouse Designated Driver List
• Current and valid Driver’s License
• Proof of vehicle insurance
• Ability to communicate in both oral and written English, and effectively present information
• Ability to communicate and respond efficiently to email correspondence
• Ability to identify and deescalate conflict within merchandising teams, with other vendors, and clients
• Ability to use or learn both Android & Apple IOS systems to complete various reports
• Basic computer literacy, including use of MSOffice (MS Word, MS Excel) and other inventory related computer software
• Must be 21 years of age and eligible to work in the United States
• Ability to pass a Federal/National Background Check
• Ability to be on feet for long periods of time, stooping, walking, bending, and standing in all outdoor garden center conditions
• Ability to lift 25-50lbs and push/pull racks on wheels up to 50-100lbs

Qualifications

• 1-2 years of supervisory/management/sales experience (or related education) OR 2-3 seasons of experience with Customer Service / Retail / Merchandising

Nice to Have

• Experience leading teams or working within a supervisor/manager capacity
• Experience with building customer/client relationships, conflict resolution, or account management
