Merchandise Manager

About This Role

This Merchandise Manager role at Ulta Beauty leads a team of Task Associates, supporting retail store operations including shipment, replenishment, omni-channel, price changes, and markdowns. The role drives business performance, develops talent, and ensures operational compliance to achieve top-line sales growth.

Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of accountability to meet or exceed the store’s goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty, payroll, omni-channel, and retail shrink
• Drive company profitability through operational excellence, top-line sales growth, and expense control
• Leverage store forecast and payroll budgets for scheduling needs and communicate to the GM to maximize productivity and achieve sales/payroll goals
• Review, analyze, and react to Ulta Beauty’s financial and operational reporting
• Perform makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and guest service experience
• Stay informed regarding new and existing industry trends, products, and services
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance and hold store associates accountable to Ulta Beauty attendance policy
• Attract, hire, and retain a diverse team of top talent
• Support all aspects of associate professional development, including training, feedback, coaching, and succession planning
• Execute all operational focuses inclusive of shipment, replenishment, omni-channel, price changes, and markdowns

Requirements

• 1-2+ years of retail management experience
• Experience with financial management including driving sales, interpreting data, managing payroll, and controlling expenses
• Experience with monitoring inventory levels, achieving operational excellence, and executing merchandising directives
• Experience with attracting, developing, and motivating top talent
• Proficient with basic technology (Point of Sale system, Microsoft Office programs, Apple devices)
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Strong organizational skills
• Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment, and be flexible/adaptable
• Ability to work a flexible, full-time schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Ability to work shifts beginning at 5:00 a.m.
• Availability to work shifts on Sundays and Mondays

Qualifications

• High school diploma is preferred
• 1-2+ years of fast-paced, retail management, or other relevant work experience
