Assistant Stylist

About This Role

This temporary Assistant Stylist position engages with guests, consults on hair care needs, and recommends products and services. The role prepares talent for a stylist position, focusing on service quality, guest experience, and operational standards through mentorship and hands-on practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver exceptional guest service and contribute to meeting store goals for retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink.
• Support mentor Stylist in meeting sales and productivity goals for hair services and haircare products through add-on recommendations, shampoo/treatment, blowouts, color applications, and assisting with foils.
• Perform cleaning, sanitation, and organizing duties.
• Pre-book appointments and make retail recommendations.
• Perform hair services including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing after three months.
• Perform product demonstrations with guests to drive sales and enhance service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed on industry trends, products, and services.
• Develop guest relationships through consultations and appropriate retail/service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, under mentorship.
• Follow all safety, sanitation, and infection control procedures, ensuring compliance with state board guidelines.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for continuous professional development.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license
• Basic understanding of latest salon techniques for haircutting, haircolor, lightening, styling, texture, treatment, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing services
• Basic understanding of equipment and chemicals for technical work
• Basic understanding to demonstrate, recommend, and sell pro hair care and makeup products
• Developed communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and clientele
