The Medical Records Coordinator performs quality checks and electronically files medical documents for assigned products and members. This role ensures data accuracy in the Electronic Medical System (EMS) and collaborates with various departments.
Responsibilities
- Perform quality checks to maintain integrity of events and reporting criteria
- Process members’ electronic documents, verifying data accuracy and completeness
- Resolve discrepancies using standard procedures or return incomplete documents to departments
- Coordinate field assignments for Interpreters by checking availability and assigning staff based on location
- Facilitate manual mailings for other departments
- Move existing members, auto-enrollees, and dis-enrollments in the NY State Uniform Assessment System (UAS) for Integrated Products
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Ability to prioritize and complete assigned tasks
- Proficiency in navigating the Internet
- Ability to work with multiple electronic documentation systems simultaneously
- Ability to troubleshoot basic hardware and software errors and coordinate with a Technician for remote repairs
- Experience with electronic patient health information (PHI) databases
- Microsoft Excel skills including editing, searching, sorting/filtering, and using pivot tables
- Data entry and database management experience with Microsoft Excel and other systems
- Attention to detail for quality checks and proofreading
- Experience in a healthcare environment
- Knowledge of Medicare, Medicaid, managed care, and medical terminology
