This role involves performing complex tests in clinical laboratories to diagnose diseases, handling complex issues, and applying critical thinking within established departmental procedures. The Senior Medical Laboratory Technician also mentors and provides technical guidance to junior staff.
Responsibilities
- Perform tests on specimens accurately, organized, and prioritized according to laboratory procedures and policies
- Collect a variety of specimens with skill and sensitivity to patient needs
- Ensure specimens are properly identified, collected, labeled, and stored
- Perform instrument maintenance according to section procedures
- Independently perform advanced and/or more complex Quality Control, Linearity, Calibration, and Delta Checks on laboratory equipment
- Maintain inventory of supplies
- Follow department policy maintaining all necessary records and documentation
- Ensure input is accurate and complete
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment
Requirements
- Associate of Science or completion of an official military medical laboratory training course
- 2 years of experience
- Medical Lab Technician (ASCP_MLT or AMT_MLT) certification
Qualifications
- Associate of Science or completion of an official military medical laboratory training course
- 2 years of experience; plus 4 years MLT experience with a military medical laboratory training course
