About This Role

Assist clinicians and nursing staff in providing medical care to patients with advanced heart failure. This role involves direct patient care, administrative support, and utilizing specialized knowledge to ensure an excellent patient experience.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare patients for exam and treatment by taking and recording vital signs, symptoms, and other necessary measurements
  • Document pain scores and report patient conditions indicative of change to the clinician
  • Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures including blood pressure, respiration, heart rate, temperature, phlebotomies, ear irrigation, and EKGs
  • Coordinate and manage patient care, including pre-certifications, referrals, authorizations, prescriptions, and scheduling appointments
  • Communicate test results to patients and act as a resource to clinicians to optimize patient care
  • Provide clerical support with patient/client notifications, documentation, and managing complete medical records
  • Maintain a clean, functional environment by cleaning and disinfecting equipment, exam rooms, and storage areas
  • Manage medication ordering and tasks related to all medications, including expired medications/equipment and recalls
  • Develop and maintain effective communication with all external and internal customers, exemplifying service orientation and teamwork

Requirements

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge
  • Completion of an approved medical assistant training program
  • Active Medical Assistant Certification (RMA, CMA, CCMA, or NCMA)
  • BLS certification
  • Strong computer skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple changing priorities effectively and in an organized fashion

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent working knowledge. Completion of an approved medical assistant training program as defined by state regulations.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with office medical procedures and treatments
  • Knowledge of insurance, managed care operations
  • Experience with EMR and scheduling software
