About This Role

The Manager – Admissions & Registration oversees the daily operations and strategic management of patient admissions, registration, and central communications, ensuring accurate and efficient access to hospital services. This role supervises a team responsible for front-end revenue cycle processes and supports compliance, staffing, and training to promote operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Direct and manage all functions related to inpatient and outpatient admissions, registration, and switchboard operations
  • Serve as a liaison between patients, staff, physicians, visitors, and external stakeholders
  • Develop and implement departmental policies and procedures; ensure compliance with HIPAA and other regulatory standards
  • Oversee employee scheduling, payroll processing, attendance tracking, and staffing coverage
  • Maintain the registration dictionaries within the Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
  • Monitor departmental supplies, resources, and budgets; ensure cost-effective operations
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and performance evaluations for departmental personnel
  • Lead employee training in areas such as compliance, HIPAA, customer service, and system functionality
  • Collaborate with privacy officer to maintain HIPAA readiness and staff awareness
  • Participate in recruitment, onboarding, and disciplinary actions as needed

Requirements

  • 2+ years in a supervisory or management role in patient access or hospital admissions
  • Postsecondary formal training in admissions and switchboard operations
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills
  • Familiarity with EHR systems and patient access platforms
  • Ability to manage and train staff in a healthcare environment
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, time management, and multitasking
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management tools
  • Ability to function under stress and resolve complex service issues promptly

Qualifications

  • Postsecondary (Cert/Diploma/Program Grad) completion of formal training programs in admissions and switchboard operations
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or management role in patient access or hospital admissions
