Maintenance Technician I

About This Role

The Maintenance Technician I supports the FedEx Industrial Maintenance for material handling, focusing on preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic preventative and predictive maintenance and repair of material handling systems
• Diagnose simple mechanical power transmission issues visually or audibly apparent at the single component level
• Adhere to all applicable safety standards and promote a safe work environment
• Participate in smaller scope projects
• Utilize prescribed processes related to mechanical power transmission, electrical, PLC/controls, welding/fabrication
• Troubleshoot component and systems issues

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED
• Demonstrated basic mechanical aptitude through background or hobbies in agriculture, automotive or other technical areas; or two years of FedEx Operations Sortation equipment knowledge; or currently enrolled in a certificate or degree program for Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics or related discipline; or related military technical experience and electrical or mechanical trade experience.

• Ability to solve basic mechanical or electrical problems, including understanding of basic engineering formulas
• Ability to diagnose simple mechanical power transmission issues
• Effective verbal and written communication within own department to peers, managers, and outside vendors

• Software skills, including Microsoft Office suite and other web-based applications
• Time management and organizational skills
