This Logistics Manager role is responsible for overseeing the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of all logistics functions for The Boelter Companies, including carrier management, import/export compliance, and freight transportation. The manager will develop and implement comprehensive strategies to optimize logistics operations across all divisions.
Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain a comprehensive freight and logistics strategy
- Develop relevant operating metrics and publish timely reports demonstrating cost effectiveness
- Drive process standardization while maintaining customer experience and managing costs
- Manage day-to-day import and export operations with service providers
- Serve as a logistics subject matter expert (SME) throughout the organization
- Perform data analysis to identify trends and areas for improvement and profitability
- Develop scalable, cost-effective processes for import and export compliance
- Communicate trends in logistics and develop plans in support of anticipated industry changes
- Work collaboratively with sales teams and operations to create logistics solutions
- Manage the process for evaluating bids, negotiating contracts, and monitoring 3PL and carrier performance
- Work with contracted logistics providers and internal systems to provide timely and accurate freight estimates
- Resolve problems or complaints related to logistics from internal and external customers
- Apply business needs to logistics objectives and strategy, collaborating with IT for system support
- Develop Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) where needed
- Drive comprehensive domestic and international supply chain material handling cost reductions
Requirements
- BA/BS degree or equivalent experience
- Demonstrable record of accomplishments in analyzing data and trends to drive efficiencies
- 8+ years of logistics leadership experience in progressive distribution or light manufacturing
- Experience in negotiations with freight carriers and 3PL’s
- Experience in applying LEAN tools
- Strong domestic freight and import/export compliance acumen
- Strong ability to lead, organize, plan, prioritize and execute multiple projects simultaneously
- Excellent problem solving, communication and team building skills
- Working knowledge of ERP systems
Qualifications
- BA/BS degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- 8+ years of logistics leadership experience in a progressive distribution or light manufacturing setting, including negotiations with freight carriers and 3PL’s
