About This Role

This Line Cook position prepares and cooks food items for a fine dining restaurant and banquet guests within a hospitality training center. The role also serves as a trainer, supervising student learning experiences in various areas of The Hotel at Kirkwood Center.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices
  • Substitute for, and assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods
  • Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables in preparation for use
  • Prepare, season, and cook soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, or other foodstuffs for consumption
  • Identify, list, and explain ingredients in response to dietary inquiries
  • Prepare and serve family meals for Hotel employees
  • Demonstrate predefined kitchen skills consistently

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Ability to follow instructions (menus/recipes)
  • Knowledge of food storage/handling techniques
  • Sunday availability is a must

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or the equivalent required
  • Some Kitchen Line or Prep Experience desired, minimum of two years full-time experience in a related hospitality setting preferred

  • Post high school degree
  • Minimum of two years full-time experience in a related hospitality setting
