The Line Cook will accurately and efficiently prepare, portion, cook, and present a variety of hot and/or cold food items for various meal periods, including Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Special/Catered Events. This role is responsible for preparing food for residents in a Senior Living / Healthcare environment, ensuring high standards of sanitation and compliance with regulations.
Responsibilities
- Prepares and cooks to order foods that may require short to mid-level preparation time.
- Prepares food in accordance with current applicable federal, state, and corporate standards, guidelines, and regulations.
- Reads food order or receives verbal instructions on food required by patron and prepares and cooks food according to instructions.
- Follows basic recipes and/or product directions for preparing, seasoning, cooking, tasting, carving, and serving soups, meats, vegetables, desserts, and other food products.
- Takes and records temperatures and corrects temperature discrepancies.
- Cleans and sanitizes workstations and equipment and follows all regulatory rules and procedures.
- Assists with set ups, break down and clean up serving lines and other food areas.
- Properly records and labels, with appropriate dates and stores foodstuffs and supplies.
- Complies with all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
- Attends all allergy and foodborne illness in-service training and applies principles of food safety to food preparation and sanitation practices.
Requirements
- Current Food Handler’s Permit
- State sanitation certificate
- Extensive working knowledge of a kitchen environment and food preparation
- Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written, English)
- Ability to read and understand written instructions and follow safety practices and recipes unsupervised
Qualifications
- High school diploma
- 3-4 years of related and advanced food service and cooking experience. Experience with basic operation of kitchen equipment and intermediate to advanced knife experience is preferred.
