Licensed Vocational Nurse

About This Role

Perform duties in the maintenance of appropriate health practices among pupils, administer basic first aid and emergency care, and provide medical procedures and health counseling to students and staff within the school district.

Responsibilities

• Perform community outreach and services including parent training and information and well-child services
• Administer first aid and emergency care to ill or injured students and staff
• Provide medical procedures including catheterization, NG tube feeding, changing tracheotomy tubes, machine suctioning, colostomy/ileostomy, gastrostomy feeding, mechanical ventilation, nasal cannula, oxygen supplementation, and syringe suctioning
• Perform necessary procedures for diabetic students
• Coordinate and assist with programs for the control of communicable disease
• Monitor and maintain records concerning student immunizations and required physical exams and other health care requirements
• Assist School Nurse with performing vision and hearing screenings and make follow-up notifications and referrals
• Conduct home visits and telephone contacts to obtain health data or pertinent information
• Provide health care counseling to parents and school personnel
• Administer medications as ordered by a physician

Requirements

• High School Diploma or the equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
• California LVN License
• CPR Card
• TB Test Clearance
• Criminal Justice Fingerprint Clearance
• Valid California Driver's license

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or the equivalent
• Two (2) years of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)
