Licensed Substance Abuse Counselor

About This Role

A compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor is needed to assist patients with opioid addiction through medically assisted programs, individual, and group therapy sessions. The counselor will evaluate patient progress and collaborate with healthcare professionals to ensure the best treatment outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews for service eligibility determination
• Facilitate, establish, and review initial treatment plans with each patient
• Provide individual and group counseling services with direct service hours at regularly scheduled intervals
• Coordinate all services throughout treatment
• Complete Bio-psychosocial assessments
• Involve families and significant others in the patient's recovery process whenever possible
• Develop and participate in individual or group patient teaching projects
• Respond, as needed, to patient grievances and complaints
• Develop aftercare and discharge plans, completing all discharge paperwork

Requirements

• Kansas issued LAC or LMAC
• Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals
• Positive, non-judgemental, and accepting attitude toward patient population
• Understanding of an EMR system
• Satisfactory drug screen
• Satisfactory criminal background check
