Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse LPN

About This Role

Provide nursing care to assigned patients within the scope of licensure, administering medications, performing treatments, and assisting with rehabilitation under the direct supervision of a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Under direct supervision of a Registered Nurse, administer medication, perform treatments and patient care responsibilities as prescribed
• Consult with and keep Registered Nurse informed of activities, symptoms, reactions, and changes in the patient's condition with regard to assigned patients
• Provide appropriate pain management techniques and educate the patient and family regarding pain management
• Administer medication following the five rights of medication administration within scope of practice
• Assist with the rehabilitation and treatment of patients in accordance with the medical plan of care, updates, and revises plan of care under the supervision of Registered Nurse
• Assist physicians with examinations, treatments and special procedures and perform services requiring technical and manual skills as directed by the Registered Nurse
• Treat patients and their families with respect and dignity, identify and address psychosocial, cultural, ethnic and religious/spiritual needs
• Interact professionally with patient/family and involve patient/family in the formation of the plan of care
• Assist with admitting, discharging and transferring of patients
• Identify and address psychosocial needs of patients and family; communicate with Social Services/Discharge Planner regarding both in-hospital and post discharge needs

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses
• Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse License
• BCLS Certification

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited program for Licensed Vocational/Practical Nurses
• Minimum six months prior experience in an acute care setting preferred

Nice to Have

• Minimum six months prior experience in an acute care setting
• Intravenous Blood Certification
