Licensed Practical Nurse - Corrections

About This Role

Provide basic direct practical nursing care to inmates within the County Jail, including medication administration, emergency response, and vital sign monitoring.

Responsibilities

• Administer and dispense prescribed medications to patients on assigned modules as delegated by a physician
• Prepare treatment carts for daily treatments such as skin care, dressing changes, ointment applications, ear irrigations, and sliver removal
• Respond to medical emergencies and perform emergency treatment until a registered nurse or physician arrives
• Perform focused assessments within scope of practice on patients and refer to physician or registered nurse
• Take recordings of vital signs including respiration, temperature, and blood pressure
• Determine patient's medical and physical needs and perform emergency medical treatment as required
• Chart information on patient's health status records and medication logs
• Prepare required reports
• Maintain inventory records of medications, supplies, and equipment
• Record medications when necessary

Requirements

• Washington State or Compact Practical Nurse License
• US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient
• At least 21 years old

Qualifications

• One (1) year with medication administration is preferred.

Nice to Have

• Successful completion of NAPNES Medication Course
• One year experience with medication administration
