Law Clerk/Judicial Clerkship

About This Role

Serve as a Law Clerk to Judge Millie M. Judge, providing critical legal research, analysis, and administrative support to facilitate court operations. This role involves drafting legal memoranda, reviewing motions, and acting as a liaison between the judge and various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic legal research and analysis on issues before the court
• Brief and summarize files in preparation for sentencing
• Collect trial related data and validate authority in legal documents
• Assist in the preparation of written opinions and memorandum decisions
• Receive, review, and summarize issues for pre and post trial motions
• Screen persons desiring to see judges and maintain appointment/hearing schedules
• Maintain orderly conduct and security in courtrooms
• Ensure courtrooms are trial ready and jury deliberation rooms are stocked
• Keep all library and research material current
• Prepare jury instructions and supervise jurors

Requirements

• J.D. Degree from an accredited law school
• Ability to perform legal research and analyze legal principles
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to maintain required records and prepare concise written reports
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Proficiency in navigating computer applications and systems

Qualifications

• J.D Degree from an accredited law school
• Entry level position, recent law school graduate preferred.

• Knowledge of Superior Court procedures
• Knowledge of laws of the State of Washington
• Knowledge of on-line legal research resources
• Demonstrated organizational skills
