About This Role

This part-time Assessment Technician I role provides customer service, research assistance, and clerical support for property tax assessment and appraisal procedures. The position also ensures proper processing of excise tax affidavits and senior citizen exemptions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide general information and research assistance to customers by phone, email or in person
  • Direct external and internal inquiries to the appropriate personnel or other county/city offices
  • Assist in clerical and data entry tasks
  • Process senior citizen exemptions and excise tax affidavits
  • Explain basic property tax assessment, appraisal procedures, and values to the public
  • Receive and determine basic senior citizen/disabled person exemption eligibility
  • Process changes in the Assessor’s records, including special classifications
  • Process, route, and enter excise tax affidavit information into the computer system
  • Assist the Property Control Department with entering new plat parcel addresses, legal description corrections and owner name change affidavits and deed research
  • Perform sorting, filing, distributing form letters, and mass mailings, and data entry for other departments
  • Assist in purging of old records and sorting and routing of historical records

Requirements

  • 2+ years of general office customer service or real estate customer service experience
  • Pass job related tests

Qualifications

  • Two (2) years of general office customer service, or real estate customer service experience; OR any equivalent combination of training and/or experience
