This Legal Internship offers an opportunity for a Juris Doctor candidate to gain hands-on experience in legal research, analysis, and contract management within a construction and facilities maintenance company. The intern will support AI learning initiatives and learn about construction contract risk assessment.
Responsibilities
- Assist in documenting the contract management workflow in preparation for the implementation of the Origami contract workflow platform
- Support AI learning initiatives by identifying construction-related risks in contracts and contributing to the development of AI training datasets
- Learn and assist with construction contract risk assessment and risk mitigation strategies
- Conduct research and assist legal team members and internal clients in understanding contract terms, conditions, clauses, schedules, and any unusual project requirements
- Accompany attorneys to mediations, depositions and hearings as may be scheduled during the internship engagement
- Communicate professionally with internal and external clients and other parties to gather information
- Learn the basics of document drafting and case management
- Gain hands-on, career-enhancing experience on legal research and analysis
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a Juris Doctor (JD) degree
- Completion of 2L year and Contracts coursework required
- Minimum 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Eligible to work 40 hours (or more) per week during the summer
- Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Team-oriented with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset
