The Legal Assistant provides essential clerical and administrative support to the County Attorney’s Office, assisting with prosecutorial efforts in assigned legal areas. This role involves managing a heavy clerical workload for multiple attorneys, ensuring efficient operation within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide clerical support to prosecutorial efforts of the County Attorney’s Office
- Support two or more attorneys with heavy clerical workloads
- Subpoena witnesses as required
- Act as a liaison for general scheduling purposes
- File, redact, prepare, and mail digital discoveries within court mandated time frames
- Transcribe, draft, file, and mail legal correspondences
- Run criminal record checks on defendants as needed
- Attend State Police Telecommunications System training within six months of hire
Requirements
- Two years of formal secretarial education or experience
- Highly skilled with Microsoft Office applications
Qualifications
- 2+ years of formal secretarial education or experience
Nice to Have
- Education or experience in the field of Criminal Justice
- Experience working with a legal database
