Legal Assistant

About This Role

Support a family law and insurance defense team as a Legal Assistant, managing deadlines, litigation workflows, and calendar management. This role requires precise document preparation and acting as a central point of coordination for attorneys.

Responsibilities

• Manage deadlines and support litigation workflows
• Handle heavy calendaring of court dates, depositions, and deadlines
• Prepare and follow up on subpoenas
• Draft and format correspondence, pleadings, and legal documents
• Coordinate scheduling with clients, vendors, and courts
• Organize medical records and discovery documents
• Process incoming and outgoing mail
• Support trial preparation and file management as needed

Requirements

• Minimum 3 consecutive years as a legal assistant/paralegal in a defense law firm
• Experience managing multiple attorneys caseloads
• Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures
• Proficiency with DOAH, ECF filings, and PACER
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Excel
• Proficiency with vendor portals (e.g., record retrieval companies)
• Exceptional grammar, time management, and written/verbal communication skills
• Ability to juggle deadlines, calendars, pleadings, and client communications in a fast-paced setting

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 consecutive years as a legal assistant/paralegal in a defense law firm
