Assist the department supervisor by instructing less experienced personnel, delegating work assignments, and ensuring smooth operation of their department in accordance with quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist department supervisor and train less experienced personnel in job functions
- Assist in planning and delegating work assignments
- Conduct safety training and new employee orientations
- Assist with tool set-ups and general department operation
- Follow established housekeeping and safety practices
- Complete all departmental paperwork in detail
- Understand department documentation (travelers, engineering drawings, tech cards, etc.)
- Expedite and monitor work flow within departments
- Notify management of actual or anticipated problems (material shortages, equipment issues, safety concerns)
- Monitor timecard entries and understand administrative, manufacturing, and engineering documentation
- Operate and train others in the use of department safety equipment and tools
- Communicate effectively with a wide variety of people (hourly, clerical, engineers)
- Log onto computer system, extract information, log time, enter inventory, and forward to next operation
- Perform visual and dimensional inspection using measuring devices
- Ensure equipment is operating to optimum condition and shut down equipment at end of shift or during power failure
- Assure department supplies and operational materials are in stock
- Monitor whereabouts of department employees during work periods and inform supervisors during emergencies
- Maintain accurate records of work performed
- Meet all production and quality standards, following OPCs and QCPs
- Responsible for security during swing shift work periods, including locking plant doors/gates and equipment shutdown
Requirements
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing
- Ability to read, follow, and interpret instructions on technique cards, code sheets, and other instructions
- Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations
- Ability to use simple to moderately complex measuring devices and fixtures
- Physical ability to perform the essential job functions
- Must be a Level 2 or higher in-home department
Qualifications
- Experience and/or training are included in considerations. Must be a Level 2 or higher in-home department.
