The Lead Information Security Systems Engineer applies current systems security engineering methods to the architecture and design of secure systems and networks. This role ensures security protection needs are met throughout the system lifecycle and supports authorization processes.
Responsibilities
- Apply current systems security engineering methods to architecture, design, development, evaluation, and integration of systems and networks
- Work with customers to define and implement security protection needs, concerns, and requirements for system security authorization
- Collaborate with systems developers or vendors on designing and evaluating secure systems, networks, and database products
- Prepare Certification and Accreditation documentation using industry standards like DITSCAP, DIACAP, DCID 6/3, Common Criteria, and NIST 800-37
- Lead assessment activities for security and privacy controls in embedded systems using NIST 800-53
- Lead programs through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation and authorization (A&A) processes
- Support security engineering activities including basis of estimate development, requirements, design, test, configuration management, and maintenance
- Assist program security in the development of policies and procedures for emerging security technologies
- Support the evaluation, qualification, testing, and delivery of security architecture improvement projects
Requirements
- Minimum Collateral Secret security clearance
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD 8140 certification within 6 months
- Experience leading programs through the Risk Management Framework (RMF) accreditation and authorization (A&A) processes
- Experience with A&A package processing
- Experience in RMF accreditation of Platform IT (PIT) systems
- Experience in configuration and use of cyber defense and vulnerability assessment tools such as ACAS and SCC
- Experience in DoD software selection and approval processes for COTS, GOTS and FOSS
- Experience with Security Testing and Verification
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Minimum 9 years of prior relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree, 7 years with a Graduate degree, or 13 years with no degree.
Nice to Have
- Active TS/SCI Clearance
- Experience with NSA High Assurance products and IASRD and SERD requirements
- Experience with Anti-Tamper (AT) throughout the System Development Lifecycle
- Experience using DoD 5200.39 in identifying and protecting critical program information (CPI)
- Experience in Engineering trustworthy and secure systems IAW NIST 800-160
- Experience as Control Account Manager (CAM) with Earned Value Management System (EVMS) tools
- Experience as Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL)
