Lead Cashier

About This Role

The Lead Cashier is responsible for ensuring efficient guest transactions and maintaining high standards at the cashwrap, including cleanliness. This role involves training new cashiers, supporting loyalty program efforts, and assisting the leadership team with register functions.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, omni-channel, guest loyalty (including credit), and retail shrink.
• Ensure exceptional guest service by greeting, engaging, personalizing service, and recommending products/services.
• Handle sales, refunds, and exchanges courteously.
• Book appointments for and support the execution of services and in-store events.
• Replenish, organize, and maintain all cashwrap displays, supplies, and impulse fixtures.
• Support the leadership team by completing cashier chat ins and chat outs, and associate exit inspections.
• Stay informed about new and existing industry trends, products, and services.
• Share the benefits of the guest loyalty program and Ulta Beauty app with guests and lead associates to do the same.
• Assist in the training of new cashiers and cross-training other associates in cashiering.
• Ensure compliance with Ulta Beauty’s policies, procedures, and standards.

Requirements

• 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent
• Proven ability to delegate, multi-task, and problem-solve
• Demonstrated knowledge and passion for guest service and a competency for selling
• Experience addressing guests concerns and questions promptly and professionally
• Demonstrated experience in exceeding sales goals and training new hires
• Proficient with basic technology (e.g., Point of Sale system and Apple devices)
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships
• Ability to react under pressure, use good judgment in ambiguous situations, and be flexible/adaptable
• Must be 18 years of age or older

Qualifications

• High school diploma is preferred
• 2 years of relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience preferred
