Lab Technician 1

About This Role

This Lab Technician 1 position is responsible for grading finished products for all production lines and communicating out-of-grade situations to the Team Leader, ensuring product quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Follow all plant safety policies and procedures
• Actively participate in safety activities and programs
• Train back-ups and new lab technicians
• Perform daily filing and review of Q.A. data
• Maintain a neat and clean work area and exhibit good personal hygiene
• Follow good housekeeping practices and GMP's
• Wear required PPE
• Perform CCP checks for line one and two
• Perform quality grading checks on assigned lines, typically 2 checks per hour
• Rotate through all lab tech positions

Requirements

• Sanitation qualification (training provided if not qualified)
• Ability to accurately use lab equipment such as blender, weighing apparatus, pipettes, grinder, fryers, microwave, length grader, thermometer, dicromat, Minolta, Agtron, silver nitrate, and NIR
• Ability to use a computer for data entry, report generation, and research
• Ability to perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
• Ability to read, understand, and obey all plant rules and safety procedures
• Ability to practice proper body mechanics and safe lifting techniques
• Knowledge of potential hazards and safety procedures for tasks
• Ability to work independently and as a team player, organized, and plan effectively
• Effectively communicate in English verbally and in writing

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED) preferred
