About This Role

This role involves performing complex traffic design projects, focusing on ITS, Lighting, and Signalization final and conceptual design plans within the Advanced Technology for Surface Transportation business class. The position also entails making engineering decisions and potentially supervising a small team.

Responsibilities

  • Perform complex traffic design projects
  • Exercise sound engineering judgment in traffic design projects
  • Prepare ITS, Lighting, and Signalization final design plans
  • Prepare conceptual design plans and other design documents
  • Make decisions on design and engineering procedures as needed
  • Function as technical specialist on mid-size projects
  • Supervise small staff of professionals and technicians as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Experience with traffic analysis and traffic engineering/design
  • Professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered
  • Detailed hands-on experience conducting traffic design using CAD platforms including MicroStation, Autocad and Guide Sign software
  • Detailed hands-on experience conducting operational analysis using HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, and Aimsun
  • Detailed hands-on experience conducting safety analysis using Highway Safety Software
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word
  • Strong verbal and written skills
  • Commitment to being an active participant of employee-owned culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years hands-on experience with Lighting, ITS, and Signalization design

Nice to Have

  • A minimum of 2 years hands-on experience with Lighting, ITS, and Signalization design
  • Hands-on experience using CADD tools such as OpenRoads, AutoCAD, and FDOT Connect
  • Experience with lighting photometric analysis tools, such as AGi32
  • Experience performing electrical circuit calculations, such as voltage drop and overcurrent protection
  • Experience working with state DOTs and other local agencies
  • Business development skills
