About This Role

Manage environmental projects, focusing on planning, permitting, and compliance, particularly within the power and renewable energy sectors. Lead technical efforts, ensure regulatory adherence, and contribute to client and agency relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct medium- to large-size environmental planning and permitting projects for transportation, water/wastewater, facilities, power, and other programs as identified
  • Prepare, plan and analyze/review technical studies, permit applications, NEPA documents, and similar reports/documents
  • Direct and coordinate work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project’s lifecycle
  • Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings
  • Coordinate workload through entire project development, and ensure completion of documents on schedule
  • Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to schedule
  • Mentor mid-level and junior staff in field survey techniques, permitting, and technical writing
  • Participate in reviews with various governing agencies for compliance
  • Accomplish work independently and through coordinating or supervising small to large technical and professional teams
  • Support regional or national projects in specific areas of technical expertise

Requirements

  • 5+ years related experience in environmental project management
  • Knowledgeable in current federal and state environmental planning and regulations
  • Proficiency in National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) documentation preparation
  • Ability to interact with design teams, excellent organizational, project management and communication skills
  • Commitment to employee-owned culture

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related field
  • 5+ years related experience

Nice to Have

  • NEPA experience with power and/or renewable energy clients and projects (e.g., TVA)
  • Specific experience with private sector renewable energy facility interconnections to the TVA system
  • Specific experience with TVA-led renewable energy facilities
  • Specific experience with other TVA power and energy projects (transmission, thermal generation)
  • Master's degree or higher in botany or related field
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience focusing on field botany and plant identification
  • Working knowledge of flora (common and T&E species) in the Tennessee Valley
  • Contributed specimens to a herbarium or rare plant record to a state Natural Heritage program within past 5 years
  • Seller/doer approach with experience in developing client and agency relationships
  • Experience with public service commission and/or local permitting presentations or testimony
