About This Role

This role involves reviewing research protocol submissions to ensure compliance with federal, state, and institutional regulations governing human research and privacy. The administrator will also provide assistance and instruction to various stakeholders regarding IRB electronic submissions.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret and apply federal, state, University regulations, and institutional policies relevant to human subjects’ research and privacy
  • Oversee and coordinate the preparation of continuation/renewal applications for review by the fully convened IRB
  • Communicate concerns to research staff (investigators and/or coordinators) to resolve pertinent issues and approve administrative and procedural modifications
  • Review responsive materials from investigators and determine if conditions have been satisfied or if additional information is required
  • Process accounts receivable/payable for IRB review fees
  • Provide assistance and instruction to IRB members, faculty, staff, student researchers, and research coordinators in the use of the IRB electronic submissions
  • Identify regulatory issues as well as institutional policy issues and make recommendations

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • One year of experience in a research environment with compliance issues and familiarity with research ethics and methods
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and problem-solve with high volumes and rigid deadlines
  • Ability to utilize multiple resources and references to understand complex regulations
  • Skilled in the use of Microsoft Office
  • Strong organizational skills

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • One (1) year of experience in a research environment that demonstrates experience with compliance issues and familiarity with research ethics and methods; OR a combination of education and relevant experience to equal five (5) years.
