Instructor/Facilitator Independent Contractor

About This Role

This independent contractor position supports the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) by providing instruction on strategic arms control. The instructor will prepare and present blocks of instruction and participate in panel discussions.

Responsibilities

• Prepare for review and presentation blocks of instruction for the Fundamentals of Strategic Arms Control Course
• Provide instruction on the history of strategic nuclear arms control treaties and agreements
• Participate in group discussions to provide experience-based perspectives on U.S. nuclear arms control policy development and implementation
• Prepare and present overview of the history of strategic arms control from 1968 to the present
• Present selected topics or issues pertaining to INF, START and New START
• Provide expert perspective regarding arms control concepts, national security priorities and relevant arms control treaties
• Participate in panel discussions during the course regarding relevant arms control treaties, agreements, and risk reduction measures
• Provide draft briefings to the government/OB-STO for approval 21 days prior to the class start date
• Provide briefings and/or student materials to the OB-OSP Course Manager 15 days prior to the class start date

Requirements

• In-depth experience with negotiating and/or implementing bilateral arms control agreements and treaties missions
• Experience contributing to arms control policy formation through engagements with USG, private sector, and academia

Qualifications

• In-depth experience with negotiating and/or implementing bilateral arms control agreements and treaties missions either as a member of on-site teams or as a member of a negotiating body. Experience should also include work that has or does contribute to the formation of arms control policy through professional engagements with the broader arms control community of the USG, the private sector and academia.
