About This Role

The Instructor/Facilitator will support the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) by preparing and delivering instruction for the Fundamentals of Strategic Arms Control Course. This role involves presenting blocks of instruction on the history of strategic nuclear arms control and participating in group discussions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and present instruction blocks on the history of strategic arms control (1968-present)
  • Cover selected topics pertaining to INF, START, and New START treaties
  • Provide expert perspectives on arms control concepts, national security priorities, and relevant treaties
  • Participate in panel discussions on arms control treaties, agreements, and risk reduction measures
  • Provide draft briefings for government approval 21 days prior to class start date
  • Provide briefings and student materials to the Course Manager 15 days prior to class start date

Requirements

  • In-depth experience negotiating/implementing bilateral arms control agreements
  • Experience contributing to arms control policy formation
  • Top Secret security clearance

Qualifications

  • In-depth experience with negotiating and/or implementing bilateral arms control agreements and treaties missions, either as a member of on-site teams or a negotiating body. Experience should also include work contributing to arms control policy formation through engagements with the broader arms control community.
