About This Role

Serve as a Manager in the Engagement Consultation team, advising Deloitte engagement teams on auditor independence requirements and their impact on professional services. This role involves navigating compliance regulations to ensure confident client service delivery while collaborating across various business functions.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Partners, Principals, Managing Directors (PPMDs) and Senior Managers across Deloitte's service lines and business functions to provide guidance on engagement-related independence matters.
  • Interact with client service leadership to understand independence questions/concerns and provide guidance on matters such as services to clients, client M&A/IPOs, and affiliate relationships.
  • Perform research and analysis, draft conclusions and communications, and strategize on next steps in coordination with senior team members.
  • Develop an enhanced understanding of AICPA, SEC and PCAOB independence rules and Deloitte US Firms Independence policies.
  • Interpret and implement new and existing regulations relating to permissible non-attest services, providing advice and guidance to client-facing teams.
  • Participate in policy setting by performing research and drafting communications to increase awareness and understanding of current, new, or changing independence rules.
  • Create and revise training courses and materials to address rule changes and new interpretations of existing rules.
  • Work on special projects both independently and collaboratively with PPMDs and engagement teams, involving senior members for input as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably accounting, finance, business, compliance, or legal)
  • 5-8+ years of related experience, ideally in a professional services role and environment
  • Proficient in the use of standard office-productivity tools (e.g., Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, OneNote, Teams, etc.)
  • Ability and willingness to learn and effectively use AI-enabled tools and emerging technology solutions
  • Ability to travel 0-10%

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree (preferably accounting, finance, business, compliance, or legal)
  • 5-8+ years of related experience, ideally in a professional services role and environment

Nice to Have

  • Understanding of Independence requirements for professional auditing firms
  • Experience in regulatory compliance, risk assessment and internal controls and interpretation of rules, regulations, and standards
  • Experience in public accounting
  • Strong understanding of Deloitte's businesses, service offerings, and how services are delivered
  • Knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP standards
  • Advanced degree in related areas such as finance, accounting, business, or law
